The lady at the bar is incredibly unfriendly. I can't say anything more about the shop. I could almost say that she is bottomlessly cheeky and almost directly insulting!

In the restaurant, of course, everything is now full of plexiglass due to Corona. Nevertheless, we were served very, very nicely by an employed lady. Super tasty potato soup with sausage and my wife ate Soljanka. We would say recommendable. Everything was clean and it tasted very good. I can only recommend!

It's great to take a ride on a steam train

Unfortunately, the historic special train was canceled due to the minimum number of participants reached by 50 people. Too bad. The normal train to Brocken on the same day was already full in Wernigerode, a group of 50 people had reserved in this. Since the HSB should be flexible and book such large groups on the special train. Is just 6 € more expensive, but with entry to the Brockenhaus. On the way it was really full, many had to stand.

As the cutlery already shows, the restaurant has the charm of the good old Mitropa. And that does not have to be bad. In many resin holidays we were already there. The service is (not too) friendly, it is relatively fast and when outside the weather with heavy rain drives out the travelers, wife landlady also brings down a few more people, as one might expect in the premises. Only the idea of ​​closing the restaurant and kiosk on the same day should be reconsidered.

I have been using the Zur Harzquerhan once or twice ever year since I first visited the Harz in 1991. In the early days was one of the few places in the area to get a snack, come lunch, in the area. It serves god wholesome food at reasonable prices and is great for the railway to the Brocken, in recent years they also have a bratwurst stand on the platform..

Otherwise I have never eaten anything, but it is delicious on the Harzquerbahn. Big thumbs to the Harzer Schmalspurbahnen Ambt! !!!!!

Unfortunately I was denied the use of sanitary facilities, as I found instead of the required 1 euro in my pocket only 87 cents. I told the safekeeper that I was very pregnant and my partner was waiting outside and I would give her the missing money right away, but I urgently needed to use the restroom. Unfortunately, I was only allowed to leave when I paid the entire amount ....
